Risk and Respond

I had a general idea on where to start with this project but that's pretty much it. I figured I could make a nest of some sort. As I started researching the different styles, different materials and nests from different parts of the world I really started liking the Baya Weaver Birds that are from India and Southeast Asia.I liked that they were hanging nests instead of perched on a branch and the way that the birds accessed them from below as opposed to sitting on top. This gives the nest such a unique and insteresting look and I believe this is why I was drawn to it.

To being assembling the project I started rolling newspaper into tubes of various sizes. In my head this project was leaning towrds being a nest, but thats not what really developed. The design turned more structural. I began connecting the longer tubes into a sort of teepee and then the smaller tubes of similar size into squares. I wove the squares through and around the teepee and as the structure developed it became more like the Eifel Tower than any kind of birds nest so I just went with it.
